ABOUT

Early in 2013 The Portfolio Project was established with the goal of helping young people with disability to secure jobs within the advertising industry. A group of advertising industry freelancers volunteered their time and talents to assist the Transition to Work jobseekers with sourcing opportunities to be involved with ‘hands on’ work on new business briefs. A Kidsafe campaign was one of the first briefs to come to life in a social media campaign that warns children of common dangers around the house.

The young people involved in the program worked on both the campaign strategy and execution. The group is now working on ‘real’ campaigns for the Asthma Foundation and Westmead Hospital. A diverse range of talented tutors have donated their time to lead the program, The project goal is to provide sufficient on-the job experience and training on ‘real’ campaigns so that these young people can develop a portfolio of work and where eventually be placed into internships or paid roles. Today The Portfolio Project also extends their services to disadvantaged youth as well.

The participants worked on government projects right through to projects for the not for profit sector getting great recommendations from the government for the excellent work they produced.
